LE BOURGET—Boeing announced its first orders of Paris Air Show 2023 on June 20, formally adding more than 200 aircraft to its backlog, but the deals were not necessarily surprises.

The biggest numbers came from Air India, which confirmed orders for 190 737-8s and -10s, 20 787-9s and 10 777-9s. The news confirms Air India's planned commitment, announced in February.

Air India also is tapping Boeing Global Services for several tasks, including parts provisioning, digital applications, training programs and 787 cabin upgrade services, the companies said.

Boeing also unveiled that lessor Avolon placed an order for 40 737-8s, Air Algerie purchased eight 737-9s and China Airlines ordered eight 787-8s. All 56 firm orders were in Boeing's backlog as part of its undisclosed order book.

The China Airlines deal includes converting six 787-9s to 787-10s, Boeing said, while Air Algérie signed a memorandum of understanding for two 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters.
