Dassault Aviation has opened a maintenance, repair and overhaul facility under the name ExecuJet MRO Services in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to enhance service for Falcon operators in Southeast Asia.
The 149,500 ft.² facility is located at Subang Airport near downtown Kuala Lumpur and includes workshops, storage space, offices, training rooms and rest areas.
The facility also includes a 105,000 ft.² hangar to accommodate up to 15 medium and large business jets at the same time, including the ultra-large cabin Dassault Falcon 6X and Falcon 10X. Its former facility at Subang Airport was smaller.
It also will service aircraft from Dassault Aviation, Bombardier and Gulfstream.
“The benefit of having a purpose-built MRO facility is it can include new features to support MRO activity [for example, a built-in overhead-crane for aircraft engine changes] and it can be future-proofed,” says Ivan Lim, ExecuJet MRO Services regional vice president Asia.
The business aviation industry in Asia, and in particular, Southeast Asia, has experienced strong growth, driving demand, Lim says.
“The larger, purpose-built facility at Subang Airport allows us to cater to the growth in the business aviation market and enables us to expand our MRO capabilities,” Lim says.
The facility was built with sustainable features, such as energy conserving LED lighting, solar electric panels and rooftop rainwater collectors.
In addition to the Kuala Lumpur location, Dassault is building a new MRO location in Melbourne, Florida to support Falcons in North and South America. The facility is expected to open in 2025. It also is adding capacity with authorized service dealer Pro Star Aviation near Boston, relocating a facility in Sorocaba, near Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Catarina International Airport, which recently opened, and added a new authorized service center in New Delhi, Indamer, to support the Indian market. In 2023, it opened a 165,250 ft.² ExecuJet MRO facility at Dubai World Central airport.
