Ask the Experts: Taking Advanced Air Mobility to the Next Level

Advanced air mobility (AAM) includes several types of new aviation technologies, including advanced air vehicles (AAVs), drones, electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) and electric short take-off and landing (eSTOL). The vehicles can be fully electric or hybrid with the potential for fuel-cell propulsion in the future.

The developments are creating excitement around the potential for lowering traffic congestion, reducing emissions and economic development. But AAM organizations face some challenges as they advance from the design and prototype stage to production. Managing the entire product lifecycle, including maintenance, and production inputs require technology solutions that can support AAM manufacturers along every step of their journey.

Robert Mather, Vice President of Aerospace and Defense industries for IFS, recently shared some of his thoughts on the state of the industry and what’s next for AAM manufacturers.
