The Falcon 2000EX is a twin-engine business jet type produced by French manufacturer Dassault Aviation. That type was originally certified on March 7, 2003, and serves as the basis for six commercial designations of the Falcon 2000 series: the Falcon 2000EX, 2000EX EASy, 2000DX, 2000LX, 2000LXS and 2000S.

 

The current commercial designations of the Falcon 2000EX type are the Falcon 2000LXS and 2000S, both of which received European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval on March 19, 2013. Although they are based on a common type, differences exist among those commercial designations, including with respect to dimensions, fuel capacity, maximum weights and performance. 

 

Limitations that are shared by all versions of the Falcon 2000EX type include the maximum passenger seating capacity of 19, as well as the requirement for two pilots. On the Falcon 2000LXS and 2000S, those passengers are accommodated in a cabin that has a length of 26 ft. 2 in., height of 6 ft. 2 in., width of 7 ft. 8 in. and volume of 1,024 ft.3, with the cabin length and volume figures both “excluding [the] flight deck and baggage.” 

 

Pilots operate both the Falcon 2000LXS and 2000S using an upgraded version of the Enhanced Avionics System (EASy) flight deck that incorporates Honeywell’s Primus Epic integrated avionics system, with the upgraded avionics marketed as the EASy II flight deck. Specifically, the “EASy [flight deck] is Dassault’s philosophy implemented on the hardware platform of [the] Primus Epic system.”

EASy II provides a wealth of information to the flight crew, particularly with the optional synthetic vision package, but requires a considerable investment in time and training to make full use of it all."

Mission and Performance

The performance limitations of the Falcon 2000EX type include a maximum operating altitude of 47,000 ft., as well as maximum operating Mach numbers (MMO) of 0.862/0.85 Mach. Based on a flight carrying six passengers, two crew and National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) instrument flight rules (IFR) reserves, the Falcon 2000S and 2000LXS have ranges of 3,350 nm and 4,000 nm, respectively.

Variants

All commercial designations based on the Falcon 2000EX type are powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308C turbofan engines that have takeoff and maximum continuous static thrust limits—at sea-level altitude, in standard conditions and uninstalled—of 6,998 lb. Additional limitations that are common to both the 2000LXS and 2000S are the exterior dimensions and the 39,300-lb. maximum landing weight, while a limitation that differs between those airframes is the MTOW (42,800 lb. for the 2000LXS and 41,000 lb. for the 2000S). Those airframes also have distinct maximum fuel weights, with the 2000S able to carry 14,600 lb. of fuel, a limitation that is increased to 16,660 lb. on the 2000LXS.
