U.S.-based aircraft maintenance provider, FBO and private jet operator Clay Lacy Aviation has been granted an EASA Part 145 repair station certification, enabling it to provide maintenance services on business jets registered in member countries of the European Union.

According to Scott Cutshall, senior vice president of Clay Lacy’s John Wayne Airport FBO in Orange County, California, the company receives frequent maintenance inquiries to support European clients flying in the U.S. He says the new approval will help it better serve its European clients and enable it to provide better support across a wider range of airframes and systems. The company does not currently have plans to expand into maintenance support services outside the U.S.

Clay Lacy already provides MRO services through its FAA Part 145 repair stations at Waterbury-Oxford Airport in Connecticut, Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles and McClellan-Palomar Airport in San Diego, California, including light maintenance, heavy airframe inspections, avionics and cabin entertainment upgrades and repairs, and interior modification and repair services. It also offers AOG mobile response teams based out of Oxford, Los Angeles, San Diego and Seattle.

In addition to expanding its maintenance approvals, Clay Lacy recently began two initiatives in the pursuit of more sustainable operations. In February, it installed a 500-kW solar array on the roof of its facilities at Van Nuys Airport, which it expects to generate 750,000-kWh of electricity each year and offset 530 metric tons of CO2. In March, it began offering sustainable aviation fuel and using renewable diesel at its FBO locations at Van Nuys and John Wayne Orange County airports in California.
