GE Aviation has opened a new Asia-Pacific Service Center in Brisbane, Australia to provide MRO support to customers in the region.

The $8 million facility at Brisbane Airport began construction in August 2021. According to GE Aviation, the 3,163 m2 (approximately 34,000 ft.2) service center nearly doubles the size of its previous facility at the airport. It includes an avionics workshop, Dowty propellers workshop, office space and administration areas. GE Aviation says the facility will employ more than 80 people.

The new facility will support avionics, flight management, electric power and Dowty propeller systems on aircraft including the Boeing 737 and 787, Bombardier Dash 8-Q400, and various military aircraft, including the Royal Australian Air Force’s fleet of Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules and Alenia C-27J Spartan aircraft.

GE Aviation says key partners for the facility include China Eastern Airlines, Emirates, Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia.

GE Australia Country Leader Sam Marsh says the facility’s “cutting edge technology and highly skilled technicians” will offer Asia-Pacific customers a “one-stop shop.” A spokesperson for GE Aviation adds that the new facility has “all the leading technology in avionics, electrical systems and propeller systems.”
