1. Next-Gen Aircraft Data Systems

Company: Teledyne Controls

Product: Teledyne Controls has been designing aircraft data-acquisition and recording systems for more than 50 years. It says its data-acquisition units operate on approximately 19,000 aircraft and its wireless data-transfer systems have been deployed on more than 15,000 aircraft worldwide. Teledyne also provides airborne and portable data loaders, including its new PMAT XS, and it recently launched a new cabin air quality monitoring system called ACES (Aircraft Cabin Environment Sensor). ACES uses laboratory-grade sensors to record key environmental parameters, such as carbon dioxide, ozone and volatile organic compounds. It automatically transmits data during flight, which can be viewed in real time via mobile devices. The system was recently certified on Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft, and it is being trialed at several airlines.

Product: Based in Ontario, California, Otto Instrument Service supports a wide variety of avionics, instruments, accessories and radios for customers in the commercial, military, business and general aviation markets. It holds repair station certificates from the FAA, European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, and it also holds FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval. Otto is an exclusive OEM licensee for the manufacture and MRO support of certain avionics systems and says it can support low-volume part numbers that other MROs will not. It is in the process of adding to its array of automated test equipment, and in 2022 it plans to increase its capabilities in Boeing 737NG and Airbus A320-family aircraft.

Product: Aero Instruments & Avionics (AIA) specializes in the testing and repair of instruments, avionics and accessories. It recently relocated to an upgraded facility in Depew, New York, near Buffalo Niagara International Airport, where it holds FAA, EASA and CAAC approval. AIA focuses on supporting equipment within the cockpit, such as communications and flight navigation equipment, displays, indicators and lights. It supports the majority of widebody aircraft and has recently focused on Airbus and Boeing narrowbodies. AIA also recently invested in an ATEC 7 test stand to support A320-family aircraft and added three new adapters, which it says enables support for Thales multifunction control and display units, printers and integrated standby instruments.
