DUBAI—UAE defense group EDGE has captured the lion’s share of the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Defense spending so far at this year’s Dubai Airshow.

EDGE's Global Aviation Logistics (GAL) secured two multi-billion dirham contracts to provide performance-based logistics for the UAE’s aircraft fleets. The largest of these was announced on the second day of the airshow, worth AED11.6 billion ($3.16 billion). A second contract, valued at AED3.4 billion, also was awarded to GAL on the third day of the show, officials said.

Spending with GAL up to the third day of the show was worth around AED15 billion, representing three-quarters of the defense ministry spending's so far.

“This agreement is testament to GAL’s continued growth and overarching goal of delivering innovative solutions to meet complex MRO and supply chain requirements,” said Khalid Al Breiki, managing director of GAL.

Other contracts announced by the defense ministry on Nov. 16 include technical support contracts with Lockheed Martin, Thales and Leonardo, and Rheinmetall.
