Maintenance provider Joramco has added new capabilities by signing a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UUDS Aero covering cabin refurbishments and Boeing 737-800 passenger to cargo conversions. 

Under the terms of the MoU, Joramco will manage MRO capabilities for the PTF conversions while UUDS will manage the supplemental type certificates for the aircraft modifications and supply modification kits.

UUDS Aero is headquartered close to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and holds EASA certification for design, production and maintenance organizations. It also specializes in repairs and refurbishments of cabin interiors, as well as bio-decontamination and waterless exterior cleaning of aircraft and trains.

Fraser Currie, CEO of Amman-headquartered Joramco, says: “In order to satisfy our customers and market needs in a sustainable and efficient manner, we are developing our capabilities and drawing on UUDS’ know-how in the field of cabin refurbishment and B737-800 P2F certifications."

Joramco is the MRO arm of Dubai Aero Enterprise, which acquired 80% of the company in 2016. At MRO Europe in Amsterdam this week, the company also announced another MoU with Airbus subsidiary Testia related to particle count testing.

Under this MoU, the two companies will establish a fluid testing laboratory at Joramco, which will specialize in the particle count testing of hydraulic fluids as a startup. In addition, Testia will support Joramco with staff to perform the tests and analyze the chemical testing reports.

Over the course of the past few years, Joramco looked to build up its MRO capabilities and, this year, also added a new partnership related to components work. 

It signed an agreement with Lufthansa Technik Middle East (LTME) under which LTME will do major overhauls of nacelles for Joramco at its Dubai shops. LTME also trained Joramco teams to inspect and do minor repairs on nacelles at its Amman facility.
