Poll: When will the global air cargo industry be ready to effectively distribute the COVID-19 vaccine?

Wary of the current lack of air cargo capacity, IATA has urged the freight industry, governments and public health agencies to work together to prepare the transportation of COVID-19 vaccines around the world if and when they become available.

IATA warned that a sector-wide air cargo capacity shortage would add to the existing challenge of swiftly and securely transporting a huge number of doses of a highly sensitive and valuable vaccine at the correct temperature.

“There will be a considerable burden on the aviation sector to help. A vaccine is one of the more sensitive cargoes that can be transported,” IATA global head of cargo Glyn Hughes said.
