SINGAPORE—Asia Digital Engineering (ADE), the MRO arm of the Capital A group, has signed an agreement with Collins Aerospace to grow the former’s capability in CFM56-5B nacelle services.

ADE will also be expanding its collaboration with GMF AeroAsia as part of a greater tie up between Capital A and Garuda Indonesia.

Collins will be providing knowledge transfer and training for nacelle inspection, composite, and mechanical repairs to ADE engineers, and will support AirAsia’s Airbus A320ceo aircraft’s lifecycle until the type’s end of lease.

The Aviation Week Network Fleet Discovery database shows the Malaysia-based parent airline AirAsia has 48 A320ceos in service. Capital A’s aviation group has air operator’s certificates (AOCs) in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and soon in Cambodia.

ADE CEO Mahesh Kumar told Aviation Daily that training has commenced, and the company has an ambitious target of attaining the capability within 12 months. He noted there are plans to expand nacelle capabilities further to the A320neo and A330 engines.

Separately, Capital A and Garuda Indonesia Group have announced they will enter a strategic partnership which will see the two carriers cooperate in areas of interlining, logistics, and aircraft MRO.

Without divulging too much, Mahesh added that the collaboration between ADE and GMF AeroAsia will involve areas of components and will be based at GMF’s facility in Jakarta, Indonesia.
