HONG KONG—Asia Digital Engineering plans to open a new hangar at its Kuala Lumpur headquarters in the next quarter that will significantly increase its capacity. The new $50 million hangar will be able to accommodate either 14 narrowbody aircraft or eight narrowbodies and two widebodies, according to Anne Norwawi, the company's head of business development and marketing.
In the last 2.5 years, Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) has completed 100 C checks. After the new facility opens, it hopes to double that by year-end.
ADE, founded in September 2020, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Capital A Berhad (formerly AirAsia Group Berhad) and services Airbus A320, A321 and A330 aircraft.
Norwawi says the new facility will be full with Air Asia group work until the first quarter of 2025, but then it should be able to accommodate some third-party work, which is part of its growth strategy.
The new facility will be located between MAB Engineering and Sepang Aircraft Engineering at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. After it opens, ADE plans to start building a four-line hangar next to this new facility. That hangar is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2026.
ADE currently operates a single-line hangar at Kuala Lumpur, a four-line hangar in Subang and a two-line hangar at Johor Bahru.
