SINGAPORE—The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has certified the Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2, clearing the way for delivery of Singapore Airlines subsidiary Scoot’s first E190-E2 in March 2024.

Certification of the aircraft by CAAS follows its Malaysian counterpart granting equivalent approvals in July.

Since Scoot’s May announcement of its intent to operate E190-E2s leased from Azorra, it has been working with Embraer to create an eco-system in Singapore for E2 operations. CAE and Embraer have installed the first E2 full-flight simulator at the Singapore-CAE Flight Training Center, situated at the SIA Training Center.

Scoot has also established a spares pool program agreement with Embraer, giving it access to parts based in Singapore.

Scoot CEO Leslie Thng said on the sidelines of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) assembly in Singapore that the carrier will also be getting hold of a door trainer and that engineering training commenced in Brazil “a few months back.”

While still keeping his E2 network cards close, Thng said the aircraft will be used for both current and new destinations within Southeast Asia.

In addition to Scoot, Malaysia’s SKS Airways will begin taking deliveries of 10 of the larger E195-E2 in 2024.
