IndiGo Expands Maintenance Capabilities to Bangalore

Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo is set to open a new maintenance hangar at Bangalore’s Kempegowda International airport.

The facility will have capacity for narrowbody aircraft and house a single bay catering to widebody aircraft. Once it is fully functioning, the hangar will be equipped for C checks on Airbus A320/A321 aircraft and ATR regional aircraft. Other services will include engine changes, landing gear changes, support shops for C checks, a paint shop, engine storage and a Quick Engine Change (QEC) shop, and warehousing training.

IndiGo says the construction work is nearing completion and will be fully operational by year-end. The airline is taking the space for the hangar on lease from the airport.

The Bangalore facility will be IndiGo’s second in India, with its first operation at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

MHIRJ Expands European CRJ MRO Network

MHI RJ Aviation Group (MHIRJ) is growing its international service network through a new agreement signed July 20 at the Farnborough International Airshow. Under the agreement, Air Nostrum Engineering and Maintenance (ANEM) will become an MHIRJ Authorized Service Facility (ASF) in Europe.

According to MHIRJ, the agreement is an important step in expanding its service network internationally. It says the addition of ANEM will grow its existing ASF support structure in Europe and create additional capacity for CRJ operators in the region. Previously, MHIRJ’s only ASF in Europe has been Slovenia-based MRO Adria Tehnika.

Based in Valencia, Spain, ANEM is a subsidiary of Air Nostrum that provides Part 145 MRO services to multiple airlines based in Europe, Africa and Latin America. These include Spanish regional carrier Air Nostrum, which operates 37 CRJ Series aircraft.

Satair Acquires VAS Aero Services

Satair has signed an agreement to acquire aviation logistics and aftermarket services company VAS Aero Services.

VAS Aero Services will be acquired under Satair’s U.S. business but will continue to operate as a separate entity at its sites in Boca Raton, Florida; Kent, Washington, and its European operation based in London.

By combining VAS’ expertise in managing engine and multifleet used serviceable material (USM) products, Satair says the deal enhances its existing offerings and strategy to grow in this market segment.

Satair and VAS have previously worked together for several years on servicing, warehousing and certification and distribution of USM products.

CONTRACTS

Air Europa selected Aerfin to provide a component support program for seven Embraer E190s being phased out in 2023.

AJW Group secured a 10-year power-by-the-hour component support contract with JetSMART Airlines for its Airbus A320s.

ATR won an 8-year Emerald Airlines contract for component maintenance for its 72-600s on a pay-by-the-hour basis.

Qatar Airways selected CFM International to provide Leap maintenance support for 25 Boeing 737-10s on order.

De Havilland Canada was selected by Air Niugini and Flybe to manage Dash 8-400 component MRO, plus provide access to an exchange pool, under its De Havilland Component Solutions Program.

CFM International selected Delta TechOps to support Leap 1Bs as part of its MRO network.

GE Aviation secured a five-year TrueChoice material service agreement with Korean Air to provide spare parts, component repair and used serviceable part upgrades for its GE90-115Bs.

Pratt & Whitney Canada has a Turkish Airlines contract to upgrade 82 A320s with APS3200 APUs and provide eight years of maintenance; 25 new APUs will be installed yearly.

Rolls-Royce announced TotalCare support services contracts from Flypop, Norse Atlantic Airways and ITA Airways.

Satair has a multiyear JetSMART contract for its Integrated Material Services expendables material solution for its Airbus A320/A321 fleet.

Hutchinson selected Singapore Component Solutions as its component repair station in Asia-Pacific.

Vietravel Airlines selected SR Technics for CFM56-5B maintenance and engine lease support.

ST Engineering won a multiyear Turkish Technic contract to provide 787 component maintenance on a by-the-hour basis.
