Czech Airlines Technics (CSAT) and Slovakian MRO FlyTec Aviation Services have entered into a partnership aimed at expanding their offering of aircraft maintenance and parking services at several airports in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The new agreement will see both parties offer short-term and long-term parking to airlines and lessors with additional maintenance services tied in for narrowbody and widebody aircraft at locations at Václav Havel Airport in Prague, where CSAT is headquartered and FlyTec has a base, along with four Slovakian airports at Košice International Airport, Leos Janacek Ostrava Airport, Airport Karlovy Vary and Brno Airport.
Should slots be full at the airports, CSAT says there will be an option to negotiate the extension of the services to other airports in the region.
Pavel Hales, chairman of the Czech Airlines Technics board of directors, says the decision to offer the services was due to high demand resulting from the grounding of aircraft due to the COVID-19 crisis.
“Our mechanics and engineers will work alongside their home base in Prague at other airports, where they are able to perform the booked aircraft maintenance tasks,” he says of the new service. “All base maintenance checks of narrowbody Boeing 737, Airbus A320 Family and ATR 42/72 aircraft will be performed directly in our hangar located at Václav Havel Airport Prague.”
Regular technical checks, including landing gear, modifications, spare part replacements and paint repairs of individual components are among services also offered during the parking period of an aircraft by both parties.
